A motorist is in hospital after a collision between two cars — one of which was a rental vehicle, police said this afternoon.
The incident happened on South Road near its junction with Knapton Hill in Smith’s.
A police spokesman said that officers were on the scene just after 4pm.
The driver of the rental car was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment for injuries, the extent of which was unknown.
Traffic diversions were in place on St Mark’s Road and Harrington Hundreds Road as police worked at the scene.
Motorists were asked to use alternative routes where possible and to be cautious while travelling in the area.
