Sentencing adjourned for woman who threatened PLP chair

The sentencing of a woman who publicly threatened to shoot the chairwoman of the Progressive Labour Party has been adjourned until December.

Pattie-Jean Jones admitted telling Dawn Simmons “I’ll shoot you lot” when she appeared in court in September.

The 71-year-old, from Warwick, shouted the threat on Union Street in Hamilton during Labour Day celebrations.

Yesterday, in Magistrates’ Court, Jones asked for another date in order to get legal counsel.

She will next appear on December 10.

Jones was previously ordered to not contact Ms Simmons and to report to Hamilton Police Station once a week.
