A high-level audit at Bermudian-based IT support and cloud hosting provider Oxygen has affirmed its information security practices, policies, procedures and operations meet Service Organisation Control (SOC) 2 standards.

The standards are for security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy, and the stringent guidelines, audited annually, are set forth by the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts.

Oxygen has completed the SOC2 Type II audit for its hosting and IT managed services. The firm said that many companies only audit on a subset of the criteria, whereas Oxygen’s accreditation covers all five.

Graham Turner, chief technical officer, who led the project for Oxygen said: “Oxygen's annual SOC 2 audit is an essential control for many of our customers and for those who are regulated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

“Many companies with SOC II accreditation have a Type I audit, which audits for a specific point in time. However, our maturity enables us to successfully pass a Type II audit covering all operations for both hosting and managed IT services over a 365-day period. Our customers can be assured that controls and processes for all parts of our business are adhered to consistently at all times.”

Completion of the objective SOC 2 Type 2 examination confirms a formal review of Oxygen’s Managed services, infrastructure, software, people, data policies and procedures conducted over a 12-month period.
