Reinsurance Congress begins today

global markets during the three-day 11th International Reinsurance Congress, which begins at the Princess hotel today.

Bermuda, as an expanding marketplace for risk management solutions, is just one of the topical issues that those attending will focus on.

Soon after Premier Pamela Gordon delivers an opening address this afternoon, the conference will put a spotlight on the future of regulation, touching on issues such as global fraud and Bermuda's problems dealing with global companies.

The annual event is presented by Hawksmere Plc in association with leading chartered accountants Coopers & Lybrand.

Last year the conference attracted 250 insurance and reinsurance professionals, brokers and underwriters, regulators, lawyers, accountants and other market participants from around the world.

The seminars end mid-day on Friday, but not before discussions on global and electronic trading, tax, legal and reserving issues, emerging markets and financial reinsurance.

The conference begins as the Bermuda Angle, an exercise in investor relations, ends.

Six publicly-traded Bermuda firms annually use the first three days of this week to host top securities analysts, shareholders and clients, and provide them with an in-depth look at the company and market trends.
