The advertisement, in the April 1995 edition of Golf World Magazine features a world map with Bermuda highlighted.

The caption reads: "It's just a dot in the ocean until you get to it.'' On the next page is a photo of the inside of a Ford Scorpio.

Mr. Peter Smith assistant director of Marketing for the Department of Tourism said the advertisement has been around for months although it had nothing to do with the Ministry.

Todd, a former Bank of Bermuda executive, who has been charged along with Varnel Robert Curtis, lawyer Charles Vaucrosson, Milton Samuel Woods, and Cecil Oliver Durham, allegedly used "fraudulent tricks'' and uttered false documents to steal more than $2 million from the bank.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ASSAULT ON WOMAN CRM Police investigate assault on woman Police are investigating an assault on a 19-year-old Pembroke woman.

The woman told Police a male acquaintance slapped and kicked her at her home last week.

She said the man also disconnected the phone when she tried to call Police.

VISITOR GETS HER HANDBAF SNATCHED CRM Visitor gets her handbag snatched Another visitor to Bermuda reported that her handbag was snatched from her livery cycle on Thursday afternoon.

She is the second person, in as many days, to be a victim of handbag snatching.

The 30 year-old woman said that shortly after noon, she was riding on South Shore Road in Southampton when two men on a motorcycle overtook her.

"In the process they removed her handbag from her cycle before driving off,'' a Police spokesperson said.

The Police are investigating both matters, and urge people to secure their belongings in, and on, their vehicles.

WOMAN STEALS PICTURES FROM SHOP CRM Woman steals pictures from shop A woman distracted a sales clerk in a Paget shop last week while her female accomplice stole several pictures from a rack.

Police said the woman entered the shop on South Road in Paget during the daytime.

"One spoke with the sales assistant while the other apparently took several pictures from a rack,'' they said. "The two left the shop shortly before the theft was discovered.'' Police also received a separate report of a theft which occurred on at a Pembroke restaurant. Two people entered the restaurant on Reid Street and asked for paper currency to be changed.

Police said when a staff member opened the cash register to oblige, one of the two snatched money from it and ran off. Both incidents are under investigation.

MAN GOES TO HOSPITAL AFTER ATTACK CRM Man goes to hospital after attack A 38-year-old Pembroke man was treated at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for lacerations and puncture wounds after he was attacked by another man.

The assault occurred early Thursday morning when the man was confronted by a 43 year-old Pembroke man.

Police are investigating the complaint.

LICENCE RENEWED FOR CANTERBURY LIQ Licence renewed for Canterbury The Liquor Licensing Authority has renewed the licence of the Canterbury Bar and Grill in St. George's on condition that music does not emanate from the building.

Chairman of the Liquor Licensing Authority, the Wor. Will Francis, responded to a complaint made by resident of St. George's, Mrs. Patricia Benjamin, who lives three buildings away from the bar.

She stated that the music played in the bar, which is owned by Mr. Albert Noel and managed by Mr. Calvin Minors, was too loud and could often be heard in her home at night.

Mr. Francis told Mr. Noel and Mr. Minors, who took over the ownership of the bar last year, that their liquor licence would be renewed under two conditions that they only play music in the bar until midnight and no music at anytime could emanate the building.

POLICE MAKE APPEAL FOR WITNESS AC Police make appeal for witnesses Police are appealing for witnesses to a single-vehicle accident that left a teenager seriously injured.

The accident, which occurred around 9.50 p.m. on Thursday, involved a 15-year-old who was riding an auxiliary cycle on Ferry Road in St. George's.

The youth was admitted to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit where he was listed in serious condition.
