A Pembroke man man with no previous convictions received a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to drug possession.

Eardley Simons, 39 of Misson Lane was seen riding a cycle on July 29 headed east on St. Michael's Road. Police officers pulled him over for another matter and observed the defendant behaving in a nervous manner. Simons was asked to get off of the cycle but hesitated.

Officers informed him he would be searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act. During the search, a brown paper twist was found in Simons' pants pocket. The twist contained a cream rocklike substance. It was later revealed to be .05 grams of the controlled drug cocaine. He was arrested under the suspicion of drug use.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo took into consideration that Simons had no previous convictions and gave him a one year conditional discharge. If he is arrested for anything during that time, he will be convicted for the offence.

Man denies stealing gaming machines

A Hamilton parish man accused of stealing three gaming machines from the same retailer pleaded not guilty to the charges in Magistrates' court.

Charles Robinson, 47, of Random Lane, is charged with four counts of stealing. He is accused of stealing three Sony Playstations valued at $385.95 each from Leisure Time between January 1 and November 11.

He is also charged with dishonestly receiving goods namely gold earring valued at $168.95 from Crisson's Jewellers.

Robinson pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

His trial will take place April 12. The defendant was bailed in the amount of $3000.
