Public schools got a helping hand when Digicel donated spare furniture.

The gift came from the communications store on Church Street, through its partnership with the group Support Public Schools Bermuda, or SPS.bm.

Schools representatives came with truckers to collect second-hand furniture from Digicel, which is revamping its offices.

Schools were given desks, filing cabinets, offices chairs, tables, shelves, lockers and chart boards.

Beneficiaries included Northlands Primary, West End Primary, East End Primary, Prospect Primary and Victor Scott Primary.

A spokeswoman for SPS.bm said the goal was to spread educational wealth, equalise opportunity, and help bridge the gap between Bermuda’s private and public-school students.

She added: “We link our public school classrooms with the private sector for the supply of educational, arts and sports supplies, technology, equipment and instruments, furniture and hygiene products to enhance the classroom experience for a better quality education.”
