Butterfield shares gain on BSX

Bank boost: Butterfield shares gained ground on the BSX, but fell in New York Stock Exchange trading

Shares of Butterfield Bank rose 0.6 per cent to lead The Royal Gazette/BSX Index higher.

The bank gained 25 cents to close on $41.25 as 10,001 shares changed hands. Butterfield’s US-listed shares fell 37 cents, or 0.9 per cent, to close on $40.86 on the New York Stock Exchange.

The most heavily traded stock was BF&M Ltd, which remained unchanged on $16.16 as 41,473 shares were traded.

Ascendant Group was unmoved on $21 as 3,084 of its shares changed hands, while One Communications Ltd remained on $3 as 3,500 shares were traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 11.24 points, or 0.46 per cent, to close on 2,465.88. Trading volume totalled 58,058 shares and turnover was $1,156,974.13.

The BSX Insurance Index edged higher by 5.33 points, or 0.35 per cent, to close on 1,527.91.
