Butterfield shares dip 0.1%

Butterfield Bank and Ascendant Group were the only stocks to trade on the BSX

Butterfield Bank shares fell five cents in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The bank slipped 0.1 per cent to close on $35.15 as 110 shares traded, on the day it announced a new buyback programme authorising the repurchase of 2.5 million of its shares.

In New York trading, Butterfield’s US-listed shares fell six cents, or 0.17 per cent, to close on $34.87.

Ascendant Group Ltd was the only other stock to trade, closing unchanged on $17 as 1,600 shares changed hands.

One Communications Ltd announced that during November, it repurchased 10,000 of its own shares at an average price of $3.17 for immediate cancellation.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 2.25 points, or 0.1 per cent, to close on 2,148.55.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 4.3 points, or 0.28 per cent, to close on 1,548.96.
