Butterfield and Steinhoff put the deep freeze on Arctic Penguins in five innings with a 28-5 victory thanks to the booming bats of Dan Koshowski, Bill Spencer and Trevor Brookes on Monday night at Bernard Park.
Koshowski and Spencer both went five-for-five while Brookes was three-for-three, with Koshowski pounding a home run and six RBI.
Ian Bridges was two-for-two in a losing cause while Ken Roberts had one hit in his only at bat. Steve Green was the winning pitcher and Simon Tully the loser.
The night's second game also lasted just five innings as Chips thrashed AIM 20-1. Scott Suddaby and Don LeCourse both went three-for-four for the winners, with Suddaby hitting a round-tripper and driving in seven runs while LeCourse had four RBI.
Jim Ferguson was three-for-three for Chips and delivered three RBI. AIM were limited to seven scattered hits. Joe Logan got the win while Chris Dickson suffered the loss.
Anfossi and Butterfield edged Docksiders 19-16 in a high-scoring contest as Marty Brandt and Steve Hawdon both went five-for-five and Martin Charbonneau three-for-five for A&B to overshadow Don Burgess' five-for-five for Docksiders. Andy Godwin chipped in with three hits in four plate appearances.
Brandt was the winning pitcher and Mel Sneed was the loser.
GOLF GLF Seventy-two entries have thus far been received for the 65th Men's Amateur Championship to be played at Mid Ocean (March 15-19).
Bermuda Golf Association secretary Tom Smith has created a waiting list for those who still wish to enter and can be reached at 238-1367.
Bermuda Golf Association members are reminded of the next Medal Play competition scheduled for Port Royal on Saturday, March 12.

HOCKEY HOC Five first-year girls teams from four high schools participated in the Annual BSSF Stickwork Competition recently at National Sports Club with Saltus emerging as champions.
The Pembroke school won the competition by 52 points ahead of Northlands Blues as Megan Spurling led the competition in scoring.
Micha Simons, also of Saltus, captured the individual section of the competition registering 105 points, a mere five in front of team-mate Caroline Davies. Lyneisha Lightbourne and Nicole Gibbons of Bermuda high School were joint third on 88 points.
Northlands' Sarine Babb took the goalkeeper's prize by a single point over Alison Atherden of Saltus with BHS' Sacha Commissiong third.
The Annual BSSF Interschool Junior and Senior Hockey tournaments will be held at National Sports Club today and tomorrow starting at 1 p.m.
SOCCER SOC Dandy Town will hold a meeting tonight at 7.30 p.m. at their club to discuss plans to enter a Commercial Division team for the 1994-95 season. Anyone interested is asked to attend.
