Prison Fellowship leader to visit

The global president of Prison Fellowship International, Ron Nikkel, will visit the Island this week to support the new rehabilitation based initiative, Prison Fellowship Bermuda.

Prison Fellowship Bermuda is close to partnering with another service provider in alliances to reinforce their outside-prison ministry and to review their new proposal for Family Fellowship.

The pilot programme aims to support children and caregivers of those who are incarcerated.

Prison Fellowship Bermuda chairman Jack Harris said the organisation had already gained international recognition for its work with inmates through its ?Adopt an Inmate? and ?Back to School? programmes.

Mr. Nikkel will meet with Premier Alex Scott, as well as Prison Commissioner Hubert Dean while on the Island and will join in the ministry?s activities at Westgate.

Mr. Harris said the board of Prison Fellowship Bermuda would be trying to solicit support for the local alliance and gain consideration for the Family Fellowship pilot as a potential international programme, while also trying to raise funds for the project.
