Trio charged with attempted robbery
Three young men were accused of possessing a firearm and assaulting a man while they attempted to rob him of his car at Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Nineteen-year-old Manai Iman Roberts, 21-year-old Kenry Trevor Thorpe and 22-year-old Dimitri Aaron Tucker were charged with possession of a firearm or imitation firearm with the intent to commit robbery.
They were also charged with assaulting Codie Dowling with the intent to rob him on 11 March, 2009 in Southampton.
The three men were not required to enter a plea for the indictable charges, which carry a ten-year sentence.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded them in custody until their next court appearance on March 30.
Roberts, of Hilltop Drive Hamilton, is represented by Llewellyn Peniston while Thorpe, of Friswells Road, Pembroke is represented by Rick Woolridge. Tucker, of Middle Terrace Pembroke, is represented by Elizabeth Christopher.
Fake gun recovered
An imitation firearm was recovered from a Pembroke home on Thursday. According to Police, it was found at a premises on Happy Valley Road around 6.30 p.m.
Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Car fire probed by investigators
An unoccupied car parked along Southside Road was extensively damaged by fire Sunday morning.
Firemen were called after Police on mobile patrol spotted the red MG Rover hatchback in St. George's, around 1.20 a.m.
Arson has not been ruled out and an investigation is ongoing.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.
Two arrested on suspicion of impaired driving
A woman was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after her car collided with a wall in Paget.
Police attended the single vehicle road traffic accident on The Lane near the junction with Pomander Road, at approximately 2.15 a.m. yesterday. According to reports, the 23-year-old driver from Pembroke and her three passengers were treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for "relatively minor injuries".
The car received extensive front end damage.
As well, there were 13 reported damage only road traffic collisions, seven reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and six vehicles reported taken without their owners' consent.
Flat screen TV, laptop stolen in burglary
Thieves stole a flat screen TV and a laptop from a Southampton home on Friday.
According to a Police spokesperson, the culprit entered the Turtle Place residence while it was unoccupied, making off with a 32-inch Samsung flat screen TV and a Dell laptop.
Inquiries into the incident are underway.
