A driver has been fined $1,000 after knocking a woman off her motorcycle and breaking both her arms.

Keith Smith, 38, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm by driving without due care and attention.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Smith was driving along Serpentine Road, went through the Par-la-Ville Road roundabout without giving way to traffic from the right and hit a motorcycle in November.

The woman rider was thrown from her bike by the impact and broke both her arms.

Smith told the court: “I didn’t see her coming.”

Magistrate Archibald Warner also disqualified Smith from driving for three months.
