missing refrigerator to come forward.

Thelma Lovell told The Royal Gazette that she and her husband, Stirling, stored a beige and black refrigerator in the Corporation of St. George's warehouse at the corner of Penno's Drive last August.

But since then, the $2,300 Whirlpool Refrigerator has been missing without a trace.

Mrs. Lovell said: "We decided to put the fridge in the warehouse because it was too big to move it into our apartment without assistance. It had to be lifted up two narrow flights of stairs, but it was too heavy. Besides, it couldn't fit through the door. It had to be taken apart by a mechanic or someone like that to get it in.

"We checked on it regularly, but we were told not to worry, no-one would take it.

"If I would have known this was going to happen, I would never have left it in their (the Corporation's warehouse) hands. I can't understand how it could go missing if it was under lock and key.

"It takes at least three men to move that thing. It is very heavy. I can't buy another one like it because we can't afford it. All that money has been wasted, gone down the drain.'' Mrs. Lovell added she thought she saw the refrigerator on the back of a delivery truck a few months ago.

"I have been crying every night. My heart is really, really broken. Why would someone want to steal from me?' -- Thelma Lovell "About three months ago I saw my fridge going out of St. George's on a blue Government truck, but I couldn't make out who was driving,'' she explained.

"I know it was my fridge, but when I asked the Corporation about it they assured me that it wasn't.

"I have been crying every night. My heart is really, really broken. Why would someone want to steal from me?'' When contacted by The Royal Gazette , Corporation secretary Larry Jacobs said that the matter was being investigated by Police.

He explained: "We have done everything possible and the Police are dealing with it now. It is under Police investigation.'' But Mrs. Lovell said she just wanted her refrigerator found and returned.

"I have been waiting over a year to use that fridge,'' she added. "Wherever it is and whoever has it I would just like it back. If anyone knows anything, please say something. It is very unfair that someone could get away with this.''
