Rana-Fahy takes on job of litigation attorney
Appleby Spurling Hunter has appointed litigation attorney Fozeia Rana-Fahy and telecommunications, technology and intellectual property attorney Julia Taggart.
Ms Rana-Fahy is an associate member of the Litigation and Insolvency Practice Group focusing on general commercial litigation with a special emphasis on employment and immigration. She previously worked at London law firms Lovells and CMS Cameron McKenna in their insurance/reinsurance departments before beginning her training and post qualification practice at the niche law insurance/reinsurance and shipping law firm, Elborne Mitchell in the City of London.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Hons.) in Accounting and Law in 1998 from Kingston University, UK and a Legal Practice Certificate in 1999 from the College of Law, London. She was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2003 (now non-practising). She is also a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.
Ms Taggart, an associate member of the Telecommunications Technology and Intellectual Property Team, practises in the area of company law, including advising on private and public offerings and merger and acquisition matters. She previously worked as the in-house solicitor for London City Airport in England and practised Commercial Law.
She obtained a Bachelor of Law (Hons.) from Anglia P University, England in 1992 and completed her Law Society Finals at the College of Law in Guildford, England in 1993. After completing her training contract with London firm SJ Berwin, she was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2001 (now non-practising). She is also a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.

Financial guaranty insurer Assured Guaranty Corp. (AGC), a subsidiary of Bermuda-based Assured Guaranty Ltd. has appointed Michael Walker as director of fixed income investor relations. He will report to Sabra Purtill, Managing Director of Investor Relations and Strategic Planning. Mr. Walker joins Assured Guaranty from XL Capital Assurance, where he served as director of fixed income investor relations. He has over 12 years of experience in fixed income investor relations and credit markets. Prior to XL Capital Assurance, he was a vice president in RBC Capital Markets? global securitisation group.

AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has announced that Jeffrey Walker, the managing partner of JPMorgan Partners, LLC, has stepped down from its board of directors. Mr. Walker?s resignation follows the announcement this week of the sale of 7.8 million AXIS Capital common shares owned by JPMorgan Partners, a private equity affiliate of JPMorgan Chase & Co., and related entities.
Mr. Walker has served as a director of AXIS Capital since its formation in November of 2001. He co-founded JPMorgan Partners, LLC in 1984 and is and a member of the Executive Committee and Vice Chairman of JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Amiworld Inc. has appointed Aurora based CPA firm Ronald R. Chadwick, P.C. as its new auditor. The company had planned to use EKH&S but when it received the engagement proposal there were concerns about the level of pricing and the company felt the price quoted by EKH&S was excessive. The audit proposal was also limited to only the 2004 financial statements rather than the 2002, 2003, and 2004 financial statements that are currently outstanding.
Ron Chadwick has been a CPA in the State of Colorado since 1993, and has also practised in public accounting since that time. He is registered with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board to perform audits of companies trading stock publicly, and has been a public company auditor since 1993. His areas of expertise include mergers and acquisitions, oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, and others. Mr. Chadwick holds a BS degree in business administration from Oregon State University and an MBA from Arizona State University.
