A father pleaded today for the safe return of his seven-year-old son’s missing pet goats.

Vaughan Simmons said: “My son, Zaiyon, would really like to get his pets back. They are pets and for milking purposes. This is our first litter.

“If anyone has seen anyone with baby goats in the Pembroke area, please call the SPCA, the police, the dog warden or myself.

“Even if they just bring them in my area and let them go, I would just be happy to have them back.”

Mr Simmons said he feared adult female Maddie and her two kids were stolen from his neighbour’s Peat Lane property in Pembroke on Monday.

Mr Simmons said he last saw the mother goat and her babies about 7.30pm that day when he put new collars on them.

He added: “I put the collars on them so I know they were tied properly.”

Mr Simmons said he searched the nearby marsh and anywhere else where he has taken the Alpine goats in the past but found no trace of the animals.

He explained that Maddie and her two kids were kept at his neighbour’s property.

Mr Simmons added: “The neighbour said she heard people out there at 5am in the morning. She found it strange too.”

He said his adult male goat, Striker, was also attacked while on its pasture last Friday and he believes someone had tried to steal him.

“They broke his horn right off his head — he was bleeding. I had to take him to the vet. Right now he has one horn.”

Mr Simmons at first thought Striker may had caused the injury himself.

But he realised the broken horn was beyond the reach of Striker’s chain, which meant someone must have dropped it there.

Mr Simmons said: “I think somebody was watching me with the goats. I think they were plotting to get the male.”

He added that he reported the missing goats to the police and the SPCA.

Mr Simmons said the female kid has a red collar, and the baby male a blue collar.

Their mother was wearing a black collar with an address tag on it.

Mr Simmons added: “If anyone sees any goats or hears any babies, just keep an eye out.”
