The prison strike disrupted the monthly Supreme Court arraignments session yesterday when inmates were unable to be transported to court.

Chief Justice Austin Ward adjourned all matters of those held in custody to May 7, when he hoped the dispute would be over.

But despite the long list of adjournments, the hearing remained lengthy with more than 20 people coming up before the court.

Among those who were due to appear but remained in prison were:

Lorenzo Prince Robinson, 24, who had previously pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of American tourist Scott Jable in October of last year.

Kofi Omahr Dill, 23, of Eastgate Lane, Pembroke, charged with the manslaughter of Frederick John Goring in Pembroke.

Tyrone Brangman, 16, of no fixed abode, charged with violently robbing Josie Ray at the Port Royal Post Office.

The three men accused of the Lagoon Park murder of American Stanley Lee in 2001, Terranz Sidney (Monster) Smith, 33, of Somerset Road, Sandys, James Alan (Spooks) Dill, 54, of no fixed abode, and Robert Blair Tucker, 33, of Astwood Close, Pembroke.

A 34-year-old Sandys Parish man, who cannot be named for legal reasons and was found guilty last week of sexually assaulting his wife and causing her grievous bodily harm, who was due to receive a sentencing date.

Among those who did appear was Keniel Alfred Ingham, 30, of Rocklands Estate, Warwick, charged in relation to the 2000 killing of Jermaine (Red) Pitcher.

His re-trial will begin on August 5.

A man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 14.

He was released on bail and the case adjourned for mention on May 7.

A sergeant in the Bermuda Regiment, Rodwell Edmond Symonds, 36, of South Shore Road, Warwick, appeared in Supreme Court yesterday accused of importing cannabis into the Island. He will return for mention on June 2.

There were several unlawful wounding cases with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Roland Steadman McDonald pleaded not guilty to unlawful wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm. His case was adjourned until June 1.

Kenneth Kevin Boyles, 24, of Cambridge Road, Sandys, will be sentenced on May 9 for robbery.

Shauntia Derekia Rawlins, 17, of Loyal Hill, Devonshire, and Latroy Gaynelle Santucci, 18, of Tea Room Hill, Warwick, will appear for sentencing on May 16.

Last month both women pleaded guilty to unlawfully causing grievous bodily harm to Deanna Trott in December of 2001.

Three Pembroke men, Shannon O'Brien Tuzo, 28, of Marsh Lane, Shaki Eugene Crockwell, 23, of Happy Valley Road, and Raymond Winslow Burgess, 21, of Hurst Crescent, Pembroke, have denied charges of assault, causing grievous bodily harm, and unlawful wounding, and will return for mention on June 2.

Javon Weeks, 18, of Hamilton Parish, previously pleaded not guilty to possession of a weapon and wounding with intent. His case was adjourned until June 2 when he will return for mention.

Leon Dwayne Kent Trott, 29, was in court to set a date for compensation.

Trott had sustained serious injuries after being tied up in a basement and tortured. The case was adjourned until May 7 for mention.
