Friends to launch Wanderlust boutique

Two young Bermudian entrepreneurs are to launch a boutique selling exotic products from Thailand in a shopping night to be held at the Port O’ Call restaurant tomorrow night.Rachel Sawden’s business, Wanderlust Boutique, will offer hand-made jewellery and other gift items from the southeast Asian country, in conjunction with Ashley Aitken.“We aim to start up online and hold shopping nights and events like this,” said Ms Aitken, who will partner with Ms Sawden in the business following the launch.“We’ve already had a very good response from one or two private shopping events we have held, so we believe there will be demand.”Fashion designer Ms Aitken will be selling clothes from her newest collection ElleTee Mumbai.Her clothes are handmade with Thai silk, and silk from Indian sarees that were collected during a visit to these countries early this year.Ms Sawden and Ms Aitken, along with two other Bermudian friends, Sarah Cooper and Jessica Mitchell, visited several eastern countries on a six-month adventure.The journey inspired Ms Sawden to return to Thailand to purchase jewellery for the boutique.Tomorrow night’s event will be held in the private dinning room on the upper level of the restaurant on Front Street.
