Retroactive planning permission for a Paget man's landscaping efforts was refused by the Department of Planning at a weekly meeting last week.

Jonathon Prescott, of Tangelwood Road in Paget applied on March 20, 2003 for retroactive approval for terrace landscaping and backfill against west side access to improve safety, and a new hedge.

The Department of Planning Development Applications Board refused the application, however, on the grounds that the submission did not include a location plan and that the proposal was on designated agricultural land, causing measurable damage to the protected area. Mr. Prescott was given until November 20 to remove rubble and fill on the site.

Final planning permission was also refused at the Board meeting to Miguel and Penelope Butterfield of Store Lane in Devonshire. The Butterfields had applied to build a new two-dwelling unit, however the Board ruled the development was not an appropriate design solution and did not enhance the quality and character of the surrounding area.

Permission in principle was granted to Anita Baisden to build a new three-dwelling unit in a lot off Spice Hill Road, Warwick. The final submission should include a plan to erect fencing protecting conservation areas on the site.

Final permission was approved by the Board for Mr. and Mrs. Granville Nusum to add a kitchen and dining area to a Purvis Estate Road, Warwick location. The Board also granted Winfield Robinson final planning approval to convert a studio apartment into a one-bedroom apartment at a Tribe Road No. 1, Warwick residence. However the Board warned the approvals were for planning permission only, and separate applications for building permission must be approved.

Finally, the Board gave in principle approval for an enlargement of time as requested by Southpro Limited regarding 84 condominium units at the Edness Quarry on Dunscombe Road in Warwick.
