A motorist escaped injury last night on South Road in Devonshire after his car overturned, just east of the junction with Devonshire Bay Road.

The crash occurred at about 7.20pm when the vehicle, which was being driven east, struck a roadside wall.

The driver, a 22-year-old smith’s man, was unhurt and able to climb out of the vehicle, but traffic was diverted away for about an hour, a police spokesman said.

The damaged vehicle was later towed away.
