Christmas tree collection set for January 12 and 19Christmas trees will be collected by the Ministry of Public Works starting next week.Residents at the East end of the Island are advised to put out their trees on Wednesday, January 12.Collection at the West end will take place a week later, on January 19.Trees should be left at normal garbage collection locations.A Public Works spokesman said: “As all Christmas trees are shredded prior to composting, we’d like to remind the public to remove all tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree bags.“This assistance will keep our staff safe from flying metal objects, protect valuable shredding equipment and allow the production of higher quality finished compost.”Marsh Folly accepts horticultural waste from homes and businesses, composting approximately 16,000 tons each year.
