Drunk-driver banned after city crash

A 50-year-old man has admitted driving his car into another vehicle while drunk.Victor Outerbridge, of Friswells Hill, Pembroke, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to impaired driving.Crown counsel Cindy Clarke said police attended a two-vehicle collision near the junction of Victoria and Parliament Streets at 6.18pm on January 6.Officers noticed that Outerbridge’s movements appeared uncoordinated and his breath smelt of intoxicants.Asked if he had been drinking, he replied: “Yes, I had three Elephants.”Outerbridge’s car was damaged in the crash. Arrested and breath tested, he was found to have 151milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Outerbridge $1,000 and banned him from driving all vehicles for 12 months.
