A.S. Coopers and Sons has secured the contract to bring Est?e Lauder back to town.

The cosmetics giant packed up its local department just weeks ago because its long-time retailer Trimingham?s was closing down. However yesterday Coopers operations manager Somers Cooper confirmed that his department store has been given the go ahead to re-establish the Est?e Lauder business on the Island.

That brand?s decision might bode well for Coopers as other cosmetics lines which were exclusive to Trimingham?s generally prefer to set up in stores where they are amongst competitors. ?Est?e Lauder is the big brand that should help us secure some of the others,? Mr. Cooper said adding that his store is currently working to secure agreements from other vendors including Est?e Lauder?s subsidiary company MAC.

A.S. Coopers which is currently spread out amongst a number of smaller stores as it rebuilds its department store on Front Street ? is also working to secure space to house the cosmetics line. Mr. Cooper expects to have plans firmed up by mid-month and said that the new department could open as soon as September or October.
