Peter Barnard and Anne Samis stormed to victory in the America’s Cup Endeavour Hobie Wave Regatta on the Great Sound yesterday.

The Americans were by far the most consistent team in the light-air conditions, winning seven of the 12 races sailed to finish 17 points clear of compatriots Caroline and Kimberly Locke. Barnard and Samis also posted four seconds and never finished lower than fourth in the two-day regatta.

A further nine points adrift in third were Australians Oliver and Billy Hordern.

Katie Stevenson and Taylor White were in the top Bermuda boat, finishing ninth overall in the 12-boat fleet with a best finish of fourth. Ocean Archeval and Nasya Russell, the only other local team competing, finished eleventh with a best showing of fifth.

The one-design Hobie Wave fleet will be back on the Great Sound today to take part in an exhibition race during the America’s Cup dock-out and half-time shows.

The America’s Cup Endeavour Regatta also featured the O’pen Bic and RS Feva classes, which completed their race series last week.

Bryce Tone, of the United States, won the single-handed O’pen Bic Regatta, with Bermuda’s Aiden Lopes finishing an impressive third.

New Zealanders Eli Liefting and Rose Dickson won the RS Feva Regatta, with local bragging rights going to Millie Lewis and Laura Hupman, who finished twelfth among the 16 boats.
