The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed above 2,000 on Friday after recording an improvement of 74.44 points, or 3.71 per cent, for the week, to stand at 2,004.46.

Shares of Butterfield Bank rose $1.50, or 4.8 per cent, to close at $32.50 after 13,841 traded. On the New York Stock Exchange the bank’s shares closed at $33.25

Ascendant Group shares were up 51 cents, or 6.4 per cent, to $8.50 after 217,100 were exchanged.

One Communications improved by 15 cents, or 5.5 per cent after 5,500 changed hands.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 19.32 points, or 1.02 per cent, to 1,868.66.
