He sings with the passengers, doesn’t mind sand in his vehicle, works late nights and wears a second hat as a tour guide.Outgoing minibus operator Michal Tucker is in a class of his own when it comes to transportation service.He just launched new services in the West End aimed at both the local and tourist market.He said he is now operating his 12-seater Toyota minibus on the No7 public bus route from Barnes Corner to Hamilton at 7.30am and 8.30am and again at night, leaving town at 9.30pm and 12.30pm to fill a void after the No7 bus stops running at 9.15pm.He encourages anyone needing rides during those times to book ahead with him to make sure they get a seat on his minibus.During the day Mr Tucker operates his minibus from Dockyard along the South Shore, stopping on request and giving pre-arranged rides to locals and visitors alike.He mostly transports cruise ship visitors from Dockyard, but said he tries to encourage them to go farther than just Horseshoe Bay, to Elbow Beach and the restaurants on the South Shore.“I see myself as an ambassador for Bermuda and local businesses, and I try to get cruise ship passengers to see more of Bermuda,” Mr. Tucker said.“Since I have been offering my new services it has really taken off. I get cruise ship passengers in Dockyard specially requesting me I am known as the one who sings and lets the passengers sign their names in the bus. I also don’t mind sand or wet bathing suits. My vehicle is more of a fun bus, sand is welcome, people are welcome. We have fun.”He also takes it on himself to entertain visiting travel agents and market his services abroad to others in the industry who sell Bermuda.Mr Tucker and wife Dorette have had their minibus licence for a year finally getting their service off the ground this summer.They are among about 20 minibus drivers licenced under the previous government.Mr Tucker can be contacted at 732 0433 to arrange picks-ups, transportation and special tours.
