Summer Shape Up: Single leg squats

In this, the last week of summer, Body and Soul presents the last in the Summer Shape Up series. Personal trainer Jenille Smith said single leg squats are great for toning the gluteus muscles (aka your butt).

Single leg squat

1) Holding on to something sturdy with one arm balance on one leg

2) Lift your other leg and slowly lower yourself down

3) Pull yourself back up using the supporting arm purely for balance

4) Repeat on each leg 12 times

5) Do three sets of 12 at least 3 times a week.
