BNG launches funding appeal

The Bermuda National Gallery has launched a public appeal in hopes of raising $150,000 this year. The funds will go towards the ongoing operations of the City Hall art gallery.Said BNG director Lisa Howie: “The BNG depends on individual contributions for over 40 percent of its funding.“Many people think that we are fully Government-funded, but this is not the case; the Government’s support last year reached six percent of our budget. Please help us to fulfil our mandate to the community. We can’t do this without you.”The funds will specifically be used for donation exhibitions, education, collections, general operation, free admission and endowment.Added BNG chairman Gary Phillips: “Critical to our continued growth and development is your support and encouragement.“In the past year we have made some tough administrative and financial decisions to demonstrate clearly that we respect the support we receive from all levels across the community.“The BNG continues to be committed to prudent fiscal controls. I invite you to join us in this most important campaign to raise $150,000.”For more information contact Mrs Howie on 295-9428, director[AT]bng.bm or visit www.bng.bm.
