BSoA hosts fashion show

Young fashion designer Ashley Aitken will show her latest “unique and exotic” clothing collection in a fashion show this weekend. The Bermuda Society of Arts [BSoA] is hosting the third Bermuda Fashion Show Collective on Sunday at 7pm.The event will feature collections from some of the Island’s best designers.Ms Aitken will be joined by designers Amethyst, Dana Cooper, Dean Williams, Edith Rookes, Nicole Iris, Rene Hill and Tabitha Royal. The 26-year-old said she has been designing the collection “non-stop” for just under a month now. It is comprised of looks that showcase a person’s sense of “comfortable elegance”.She said: “I have mixed lightweight silks in vibrant and exotic colours, with relaxed bamboo jersey to create unique and exotic styles for every occasion.”Ms Aitken started designing in 2008 after learning how fun and interesting the art form was. It proved to also be a great way to challenge herself, she said. She is usually inspired by beauty of any kind, but this particular collection was fashioned after the “balance found in elements of the jungle and in aspects of human nature”.People can find her designs at Lovit Boutique, starting next month. They can also e-mail ashley[AT]elleteefashion.com or visit the website www.elleteefashion.com.Tickets for the event, $30, can be purchased online at bdatix.com or by telephoning BSoA on 292-3824.
