A mural featuring Gombey Dancers has been installed in north Hamilton.

The mural at Till's Hill, painted by Ashante Foggo, shows three Gombeys at different stages of a performance.

Ms Foggo said: “Gombeys are a staple of Bermudian culture.

“They're easily recognisable and enjoyed by almost everybody.

“I hope I did their image and their legacy justice.

Ms Foggo added she used her art to challenge herself.

She explained: “Challenges force us to search deeper, finding new or alternative ways to do things.

“I would say my art expresses big emotions through the facial features, body language and movement, combined with the bold and vibrant colours I like to use.”

She thanked the dancers who modelled for her and photographer Jayde Gibbons of Queendom Heights, who captured the dancers in motion.

Ms Foggo painted the artwork as part of Hamilton's City Art Festival.

She submitted her proposal to City Hall in March.

Ms Foggo added her mother and grandfather, also artists, helped her with the planning of the piece.

She also created artwork for the 2016 City Art Festival, which is still on display in Victoria Park.

The City Art Festival has installed seventeen artworks in public places over the past four years in a bid to beautify Hamilton and promote Bermuda's artists.

A mural by Alshante Foggo has been installed on Till's Hill.
