A locally made documentary about humpback whales will have a second screening after much success.

The Secret Lives of the Humpbacks, which details the unique role that Bermuda plays in the lives of the animals, will be shown at Speciality Cinema for an encore presentation.

Andrew Stevenson, the director of the film, said that he was thrilled to see that both screenings of the film were sold out.

He said: “To have a full house like that is really satisfying because that meant there was a real buzz about it. In numbers, we had 160 people show up for both shows; it got to the point where we had to turn people away at the door.”

Mr Stevenson said that he wanted to give people another chance to see the film, particularly if they were turned away or had other obligations.

He added: “I really think that some of these shots are unique to Bermuda as far as capturing humpback whales in pristine crystal clear water. “The film also showcases the beauty of Bermuda — I like to tell people that Bermuda is beautiful, and when you get that camera lifted up into the air the beauty of Bermuda increases exponentially.”

The Secret Lives of the Humpbacks will be shown on February 27 at 5.30pm and 7.30pm in Speciality Cinema.

Tickets are available for $20 by calling 295-2751.
