The City of Hamilton encouraged moviegoers to don their most festive pyjamas for a drive-through movie event next weekend.

The Corporation of Hamilton has teamed up with HSBC for the Drive-In Holiday Pyjama Jam to help the public celebrate the Christmas season while also encouraging business within the city.

Tanya Bule, the head of wealth and personal banking and marketing at HSBC, said: “Christmas is such a special time in the city and all of us at HSBC are excited to be a part of it.

“Not only will it provide a safer way for all of us to celebrate the holiday season but it also will give much needed support to Hamilton’s retailers and other establishments after an extremely tough year.”

The event will offer free Santa hats and popcorn, a drive-through photo booth and a number of food vendors from Ashley’s Lemonade, Dandy Donuts, Four Star Pizza and Speciality Cinema.

DJ Rusty G and DJ Chubb will offer musical entertainment before film viewings.

Attendees are urged to wear a set of festive – or at least comfortable – pyjamas that will keep them warm throughout the day.

They must also bring a receipt from a City of Hamilton retailer for purchases with a minimum total value of $35.

Participants must write their names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses on their back of the receipts for contact tracing purposes and to submit into a raffle draw for the chance to win prizes.

They are asked to fill out these details beforehand to avoid congestion.

The event will be held on the top floor of Bull’s Head Car Park from December 11 to the 13, with gates opening one hour before the first screening of each night.

The event will follow the schedule listed below:

• December 11: Home Alone 2 at 7pm and Love Actually at 9.30pm

• December 12: The Grinch at 7pm and Four Christmases at 9.30pm

• December 13: Elf at 3pm and This Christmas at 5.30pm
