Tickets are on sale for Troika Bermuda’s highly anticipated and Tony Award-winning musical The Wiz.

It is a Work in Progress #9 production and takes to the stage at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium from November 4 to 7 with performances nightly, starting at 7.30pm.

The four-performance run will bring together an exciting company of Bermudian performers including Tsilala Brock, who made her Broadway debut in Suffs.

Her return home marks a special moment for Troika as she takes on one of musical theatre’s most celebrated roles. She will be joined by a dynamic company of principal performers, senior and junior ensemble members, dancers and vocalists to bring the vibrant world of The Wiz to life.

Theatre professionals will work alongside an international creative team for Troika’s production, which they describe as “a bold, soulful and contemporary interpretation of the celebrated musical”.

Ms Brock is to lead the company as Dorothy on a welcome return to the island.

The production is directed by Steve Huntsman, with Cristina Fentress serving as vocal director and Carling Ray as director of choreography.

They will team up with Troika’s wider creative and production team, and the company is developing a fresh interpretation of The Wiz that they say will “honour the spirit of the original while bringing contemporary energy and a distinctly Troika perspective to the production”.

Audiences can expect the unforgettable music, movement and heart that have made The Wiz a cultural phenomenon for generations, including favourites such as Ease on Down the Road, No Bad News, Brand New Day and Home.

For Troika, the production continues the organisation’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for Bermuda’s young and emerging performing artists to develop their craft and work alongside experienced local and international theatre professionals.

It is being billed by organisers as: “Four Nights. Four Experiences.”

Each performance during the initial run will offer audiences a slightly different way to experience The Wiz.

Theatregoers are invited to be among the first to experience Troika’s The Wiz with a special preview performance on November 4. Student and senior rates are available for this show.

Then opening night is providing fireworks of its own on November 5 with the official opening performance of Troika Bermuda’s The Wiz.

The November 6 performance is heralded as “One Communications Family Night”, which invites audiences of all ages to experience the music, energy and heart of The Wiz together.

Finally, on November 7, the show is billed as “Emerald City Green Gala“.

Audience members can take part by stepping into the glamour and energy of Emerald City for a special evening celebrating The Wiz. They are invited to incorporate green into their evening attire and experience a night of style, energy and theatre.

Theatre fans can take advantage of a special offer to buy three tickets and get the fourth free on eligible seats for a limited time.

Audiences are encouraged to secure their preferred seats early and tickets can be purchased through the Troika Bermuda website.

Fans can also visit troikabda.com to learn more about the show, meet the cast and creative team, explore the four performance experiences, view frequently asked questions and access additional production information.
