Butterfield works to address debit-card issues

Butterfield Bank customers were today encountering difficulties in making payments with debit cards issued by the bank.

In a statement Butterfield said: “We are aware that some clients are experiencing issues when using their Butterfield debit cards for purchases this morning.

“We are working to identify the root cause and rectify the issue.”

The bank added that its credit cards continued to function normally and customers were still able to make ATM withdrawals using their debit cards.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and will provide a further update as soon as we have one,” Butterfield added.
