Winning run for Phillips and Prievidza

Sullivan Phillips and BC Prievidza have climbed to the top of the Slovakian Men’s National Basketball League after winning eight of their last nine matches.

Prievidza trailed Nitra one month ago by four games and were in third place in the league.

Since then, however, the side have reeled off an impressive streak of seven straight games, including wins over Nitra and third placed Komarno.

Phillips’ team have a record of 18-8, while Nitra are a half game back at 17-8.

Komarno are two games back with a 15-10 record.

As the playoffs loom on the horizon, Phillips is encouraged with the current form of his side as they enter the final straight of the season.

“The last few games have actually been quite good for us, we’ve won eight out of last ten games and currently first in the league so the games and form of the teams been great,” said Phillips.

“Right now we are in a good position in being in first place so we are just fighting for positioning for the playoffs, but things are totally looking good here.

“As always I play for championship so the push is on.”

There are five games left in the Slovakian season for the Prievidza, with a game against Komarno on the cards in two weeks before ending the campaign with a top of the table clash against Nitra away.

Phillips leads the club in points and steals.
