Shares valued at almost $1 million were traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index last week.

The Index closed the week up 1.74 points (0.12 per cent) at 1,375.11, after 258,920 shares, representing a value of $948,256, changed hands.

Bermuda Aviation Services saw its shares improve 19 cents (6.9 per cent) to close at $2.95 after 6,000 were traded.

Ascendant Group, the parent company of Belco, also saw its stock increase in value. The shares ended the week 10 cents (1.8 per cent) higher at $5.60 after 1,000 changed hands.

Shares of Somers Limited were 24 cents (1.7 per cent) higher at $14.49, after 6,000 were traded.

Butterfield Bank preference shares moved a fraction, down one cent, after 210 changed hands. The bank’s ordinary shares were also active during the week, with 238,900 trading, but ending the week unchanged at $2.00.

BF&M shares fell 20 cents (1.1 per cent) to close at $17.40 after 6,000 were traded.

The BSX Insurance Index closed at 1,565.61, up 10.57 points (0.67 per cent) on the week.
