Ascendant shares soar 29.4%

Year high: Ascendant Group shares surged to their highest level in more than a year

Utilities firm Ascendant Group hit a new 52-week high on in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The company shares went up $1.25, or 29.4 per cent, to $5.50 after 15,300 shares sold, breaking its 52-week top price of $5.40.

Insurance firm BF&M rose 25 cents, or 1.5 per cent, to $17.25 after 5,000 shares traded.

The Bank of Butterfield was unchanged at $1.69 after 50,000 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 13.71 points, or 1.15 per cent, at 1,209.35.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 10.93 points, or 0.67 per cent, at 1,646.65.
