Shares of Somers Limited gained 25 cents, or 1.9 per cent, to close at $13.75 after 1,000 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Also improving was Butterfield Bank, which was 25 cents higher, or 0.7 per cent, at $34.25 after 3,500 shares changed hands. On the New York Stock Exchange the bank’s shares improved by 71 cents, or 2.06 per cent, to close at $35.18.

On the Bermuda exchange, shares of BF&M Ltd slipped five cents, or 0.2 per cent, to $20.60 after 3,500 traded.

Shares of One Communications were also active, with 2,200 exchanged, but with no effect on the closing price of $2.60.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed 12.52 points higher, or 0.61 per cent, at 2,055.74.

The BSX Insurance Index was down 6.73 points, or 0.36 per cent, at 1,840.84.
