Shares of Butterfield Bank closed 60 cents higher, or 1.53 per cent up, at $39.75 on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was unchanged at 2,210.24. There was trading in 4,000 shares of One Communications, and 722 shares of Ascendant Group, but with no effect on the respective closing prices.

The BSX Insurance Index was up 7.34 points, or 0.39 per cent, at 1,903.66.
