Butterfield shares fall 1.4%

Butterfield shares fell by more than 1 per cent on both the BSX and the New York Stock Exchange

Butterfield Bank shares fell 1.4 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The bank dipped 75 cents to $51.25 on the trading of 1,800 shares.

In New York, Butterfield’s US-listed shares fell 93 cents, or 1.8 per cent, to close on $50.93.

The only other BSX stock to trade was Ascendant Group. The parent company of power utility Belco closed unchanged on $16.50 as 5,000 shares changed hands.

Butterfield’s fall drove The Royal Gazette/BSX Index to fall by 33.73 points, or 1.16 per cent, to close on 2,883.61.

Trading volume totalled 6,800 shares and turnover was $174,750.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 9.72 points, or 0.58 per cent, to close on 1,670.01.
