Ascendant shares worth $234,000 trade on BSX

Ascendant Group Ltd was the lone stock to trade on the Bermuda Stock Exchange.

The owner of electricity utility Belco remained unchanged on $20 as 11,700 shares changed hands.

The trading of the $234,000 worth of shares came on the day that Ascendant announced core earnings of $18.3 million for 2018, down 10 per cent from the previous year.

The company also revealed that it had bought $10.69 million buying back more than 650,000 of its own shares last year.

Also yesterday, Ascendant announced it had spent another $576,700 to repurchase a total of 28,835 shares in three transactions on March 4, 6 and 7, at $20 per share.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged at 2,360.83.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 4.42 points, or 0.3 per cent, to close on 1,432.33.

Ascendant was the only stock to trade on the BSX
