Butterfield shares slide 8.3% on BSX
Shares of Butterfield Bank slid 8.3 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.
The bank shed $3 on the trading of 5,000 shares to close on $33.
Butterfield’s US-listed shares moved in the opposite direction, climbing 53 cents, or 1.6 per cent, to close on $33.85.
BF&M Ltd also fell, dipping 25 cents, or 1.6 per cent, to close on $15.80, a new 52-week low for the insurer.
Ascendant Group Ltd remained on $20, as 4,610 shares traded.
One Communications Ltd shares surged 15.3 per cent on low volume, as the telecommunications group added 46 cents to close on a new 52-week high of $3.46, as 110 shares changed hands.
Debt issued by the Government of Bermuda also traded, with 80 of 4.75 per cent bonds changed hands $90 apiece, translating into a yield of nearly 5.3 per cent.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 130.52 points, or 5.92 per cent, to close on 2,074.96.
BSX trading volume totalled 12,270 shares and turnover totalled $297,880.
