Ascendant shares fall 9% on BSX
Shares of Ascendant Group Ltd fell 9.1 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.
The parent company of power utility Belco fell $2 to close on $20 as 1,087 shares traded.
Ascendant announced this week that it has suspended its share repurchase programme after it invited a group of interest parties to make takeover offers for the company.
Polaris Holding Company, owner of Hamilton docks operator Stevedoring Services, remained unchanged on $7 as 1,500 shares changed hands, consolidating its 40 per cent jump in Tuesday’s trading.
Butterfield Bank was unchanged on $35.50 as 150 shares were traded. The bank’s US-listed shares gained 66 cents, or 1.84 per cent, to close on $36.45 on the New York Stock Exchange.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 19.29 points, or 0.87 per cent, to close on 2,198.24.
BSX trading volume was 2,737 shares and turnover totalled $37,565.
The BSX Insurance Index fell 9.92 points, or 0.67 per cent, to close on 1,472.93.
