Shares of Butterfield Bank were up 75 cents, or 2.1 per cent, at $36.75 after 1,491 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

In New York, the bank’s shares rose 85 cents, or 2.3 per cent, to $37.87.

On the local exchange there was trading in 1,000 shares of BF&M Ltd, but with no change to the closing price of $16.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 33.73 points, or 1.54 per cent, at 2,227.66, while the BSX Insurance Index was up 15.12, or 1.01 per cent, at 1,512.57.

The Bermuda Stock Exchange will be closed on Friday, in observance of the Good Friday public holiday. The BSX will reopen on Monday.
