Butterfield shares gain 2% on BSX
Shares of Butterfield Bank gained 2 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.
The bank advanced 65 cents to close on $33.75 as 1,311 shares changed hands.
On the New York Stock Exchange, Butterfield's US-listed shares also gained, climbing 96 cents, or 2.91 per cent, to close on $33.98.
Ascendant Group Ltd did not trade, having last traded on Friday at $22, after news of its deal to be acquired by Algonquin Power & Utility Corp for $36 a share, a deal that still needs to be approved by shareholders, regulators and the Bermuda Government.
Butterfield's climb boosted The Royal Gazette/BSX Index, which gained 29.23 points, or 1.38 per cent, to close on 2,142.51.
BSX trading volume totalled 1,311 shares and turnover was $44,246.25.
The BSX Insurance Index added 20.69 points, or 1.3 per cent, to close on 1,612.13.
