Butterfield shares fall 3.7% on BSX

Butterfield Bank shares fell 3.7 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The bank dipped $1.15 to close on $29.85 on the trading of 4,374 shares.

Butterfield’s US-listed shares fell nine cents, or 0.3 per cent, to close on $29.64 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Ascendant Group Ltd climbed $1.25, or 3.9 per cent, to close on $33 as 400 shares changed hands. Algonquin Power and Utility Corp is awaiting the green light from the Regulatory Authority on a $36-per-share takeover of Ascendant, which has already been approved by the Belco owner’s shareholders.

Financial-services investment holding company Somers Ltd remained unchanged on $15 as 773 shares changed hands.

Telecommunications group One Communications Ltd also remained unchanged on $3.85 as 384 shares were traded.

Among the international companies with a BSX listing, HSBC Holdings remained unchanged on $7.55 as 560 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 39.66 points, or 1.87 per cent, to close on 2,077.48. BSX trading volume totalled 6,491 shares, while turnover was $161,016.30.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 7.71 points, or 0.44 per cent, to close on 1,777.73.
