Shares of Argus Group Holdings Ltd surged 9.8 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The insurer gained 20 cents to close on $2.25 as 10,000 shares changed hands.

The only other stock to trade was BF&M Ltd, which dipped 25 cents, or 1.5 per cent, to close on $16 as 4,500 shares were traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 2.08 points, or 0.13 per cent, to close on 1,597.44. Trading volume totalled 14,500 shares and turnover was $95,210.

The BSX Insurance Index added 38.25 points, or 3.34 per cent, to close on 1,183.88.

The US-listed shares of Butterfield Bank fell 48 cents, or 2.15 per cent, to close on $21.84 on the New York Stock Exchange as 433,398 shares were traded.
