Butterfield shares surge 11.4% in New York

The insurer remained unchanged on $2.25 as 10,000 shares changed hands.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged on 1,595.52.
Butterfield Bank’s US-listed shares surged $2.64, or 11.64 per cent, to close on $22.45 on the New York Stock Exchange. A total of 405,902 of the bank’s shares traded.
Butterfield last traded at $20 on the BSX.
The BSX Insurance Index gained 61.07 points, or 5.45 per cent, to close on 1,181.69.
