Butterfield shares climb in New York

Butterfield Bank remained unchanged on $37.25 on the Bermuda Stock Exchange as 276 shares changed hands on Thursday.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged on 2,557.29. The BSX Insurance Index rose 27.81 points, or 1.6 per cent, to close on 1,770.9.

The BSX was closed for the Bermuda Day holiday on Friday. For the four-day trading week, the index fell 2.11 per cent, driven by a 3.2 per cent fall in Butterfield shares, offset by gains for BF&M and Devonshire Industries.

Butterfield’s US-listed shares gained 18 cents, or 0.47 per cent, on Friday to close at $38.14 on the New York Stock Exchange.
