Butterfield shares slip 2.1% in New York

No shares traded on the Bermuda Stock Exchange yesterday as The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged on 2,561.47.

For the week, the index fell 0.3 per cent, driven by a 0.6 per cent decrease in the price of Butterfield Bank shares. The bank closed the week on $37.26.

Butterfield’s US-listed shares slid 77 cents, or 2.1 per cent, to close on $35.94 on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 27.8 points, or 1.6 per cent, to close on 1,770.9.
